Woods Mahogany, Honduras (Swietenia Mahagoni) Native to the West Indies and Cuba as well as from Mexico to Brazil. Mahogany is used extensively in guitar making, predominantly in middle and high-end guitars,and is also widely used for neck construction. Honduras mahogany is lightweight, has a strong strength ratio, is extremely stable and is yellow to red-brown. This is the only wood to use in neck construction which is consistently good, producing an excellent fundamental tone. Honduras mahogany is becoming hard to obtain.
